In 2011 tha city ran as a European Capital of Culture for 2019 and looked for a logo that would represent itself.
The logo should be…

INNOVATIVE : the logo has to be refined , able to look forward to maintaining a strong characterization to the simplicity and comprehensibility of the public.

HAPPY : the logo has to move, you have to feel the warmth of Matera and its people.
WIKI : the logo should convey a sense of belonging to a universe marked by sharing (of knowledge , of places, of relations) typical of the network but also in continuous expansion as a cultural model.
